Core 1 : Repair electric motors and controls

This unit covers the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to diagnose, service, repair, test, and restore electric vehicle (EV) traction motors and motor control systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications, Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements, electrical safety standards, and environmental regulations. It includes preparing the work area, inspecting electric motors and control components, identifying faults, performing repairs or replacements, reassembling components, conducting operational testing, and documenting repair activities.

Core 2 : Replace battery

This unit covers the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to safely replace the high-voltage (HV) battery and/or the 12-volt auxiliary battery of an electric vehicle (EV). It includes preparing the vehicle and work area, interpreting manufacturer service information, identifying battery replacement requirements, isolating the high-voltage electrical system, applying Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, removing and installing the battery, reconnecting electrical systems, performing post-installation testing, verifying proper battery operation using diagnostic equipment, and completing workplace documentation.

Core 3 : Perform periodic maintenance

This unit covers the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to perform scheduled periodic maintenance on Electric Vehicles (EVs) in accordance with manufacturer specifications, Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements, environmental regulations, and workplace procedures. It includes preparing the vehicle and work area, interpreting maintenance schedules and service manuals, conducting visual and diagnostic inspections, servicing the high-voltage battery system, electric motors, power electronics, charging system, cooling system, braking system, steering and suspension, tires, lighting, auxiliary battery, and other vehicle systems.
